Dethroned for bad attitude: Miss Myanmar loses MAPW 2014 title, runs off with crown; new queen chosen Nov. 8

Were the protests and hullabaloo about Miss Myanmar winning the Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 crown and title right after all?

Shortly before midnight on August 28, Miss Asia Pacific World Talent Organization announced that May Myat Noe has been dethroned for bad attitude.

However minor the Korea-based contest is, Miss Noe is the first ever international winner from the military-ruled country.

Also known as That Htet Aung, she has lied, according to organizers, and her mother illegally attempted to get three months visa when she was accorded an invitation to Korea until August 29.

Miss Noe was crowned on May 31, with Miss Korea Kim Eea placing First Runner-Up, Miss Macau Hio Man Cha (said to be managed by one of the judges) as Second Runner-Up. The Myanmar beauty queen was trained in Manila, Philippines before proceeding to Korea.

Miss Philippines Hillarie Danielle Parungao was 3rd Runner-Up. She also won the Grand National Costume Award.

The official announcement cited other issues which the organizers said they could not mention in details but her ungrateful attitude and (un)trustworthiness is what made them (along with their lawyers) to dethrone Miss Noe.

Supporters of the beauty queen, particularly her countrymen, said though that the organizers had been forcing her to have breast implants, the reason why Miss Noe rebelled.

There’s also an issue that Miss Noe stole the crown, said to be worth between USD42-100K. Reports coming from her own country said she has run off with the bejeweled tiara.

On Saturday, Diana Starkova, proclaimed replacement to dethroned Florima Triber of France, posted on Facebook ( which was shared by Miss Asia Pacific World Super Talent Organization) saying she was sad to announce that Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 Queen May Myat Noe got dethroned.

“Everything has its price and if you are beautiful and rich Queen you may see your family sometimes just few times per year… This job is similar to sailor, you just travel the world and working,” the Ukrainian beauty intoned.

Miss Starkova’s announcement also clarified that not a Runner-Up will take the place of May Myat Noe as Miss Asia Pacific World 2014.

“The new Queen this year will be chosen in a new pageant on November 8th in Jeju Island. The panel of judges will try to be more careful and interview contestants with maximum attention to choose the best and right ones for the crown of Miss Asia Pacific World 2014. Never forget that Queen is not just beauty, it is also an attitude, and being a successful celebrity is not a magic, it is a result of hard work and cooperation with a team. MAPW is a great chance, but only for people who (are) ready for it and can understand the value of this chance, for girls who really need it, who has not just beauty, but a talent and ability to work hard being a celebrity,” she said.

It will be a new equal battle for the Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 crown on November 8, 2014 to be held at ICC in Jeju Island, South Korea.

Fans queasy over ‘Little Superstar’ title: Nora Aunor expresses full support for ‘The Voice Kids’ grand champion Lyca Gairanod

Diehard Noranians are up against the use of ‘Little Superstar’ alluded to The Voice Kids grand champion Lyca Gairanod.

Very few fans are happy about the comparison – that a new discovery, even faring better, as Nora Aunor was 14 when she won a national singing competition and sold water at the train station while Lyca won at 9 and scavenged for garbage for a living, at times singing at homes in exchange for a few pesos and scrap materials.

Most are saying, “Walang makakapantay kay Nora, nag-iisa siya, siya lang ang may karapatan sa title na Superstar. Gamit na gamit na ni Lyca at ng mga taong nasa likod niya ang titulong ‘yan para ma-push siya. (No one can be at par with Nora, she’s the only one who has the right for the Superstar title. Lyca and the people behind her have overused that title to push her up).”

Some comments are worse than that.

They’re fans who can’t be blamed for their sky-high adulation for their idol.

But what’s Nora’s take on this?

Right after her recognition as this year’s Gawad Plaridel awardee last August 27 at the University of the Philippines, the Superstar was asked by the media several questions.

One of the questions was how she felt about a young girl who just won a national singing competition and is being tagged as ‘Little Superstar.’

“Ay, maganda po ‘yun. Dapat tulungan natin ‘yung mga katulad na ganung kabataan sapagkat ‘yan po kapag nagtagal, ‘yan po ang tutulong naman sa kabataan na susunod sa kanila, kaya kailangan tulungan natin (Oh, that’s good. We should support the youth like her because in the long run, young people like those will be the ones to help the next generation, that’s why we need to support (Lyca),” the Superstar said.

Ate Guy (term of endearment for her) also said she’s reviving her movie outfit, NV Productions, but needs to finish all her commitments first but hopefully, it shall be before the end of 2014.

As to when she’ll be doing a mainstream (commercial) movie again, as all she’s been doing all these time were indies, she said there’s no difference between an indie and a mainstream movie.

“Walang pagkakaiba dahil nakakagawa ng maganda na indie, naipalalabas sa ibang bansa, at nagbibigay ito ng karangalan para sa Pilipinas, kagaya ng ‘Thy Womb,’ ang ‘Hustisya’… mapupunta rin sa filmfest (abroad) sa buong mundo (There’s no difference [between an indie film and commercial movie] because good indies are being made, shown in other countries and bring honors for the Philippines, like ‘Thy Womb,’ ‘Hustisya’… will also compete in filmfests all over the world.”

It was Nora Aunor’s recent triumphs abroad (particularly for Thy Womb) that she’s getting recognitions left and right, mostly from educational institutions, notwithstanding the fact that her elevation as National Artist was bypassed by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III.

The award, named after Marcelo H. del Pilar (who used Plaridel as pen name, was a Filipino writer, lawyer and journalist and the second and last editor of La Solidaridad, the newspaper of the Reform Movement in Spain), is bestowed upon a Filipino media practitioner who has achieved success in media – film, print, TV and radio.

Nora ecstatic with her Cinemalaya X Best Actress win for ‘Hustisya’

It’s given this year to Nora for her contribution to movies and television on top of radio, recording and stage.

In a video presentation, Dr. Grace Javier-Alfonso, head of the Critics Circle (Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino), said, “Before Nora, white, chiseled, and Caucasian was the standard of beauty, stature and admiration.”

Nora drastically changed the playing field by asserting that the Filipino with his brown complexion, overflowing with talent, could even be more beautiful than the accepted Caucasian standard in Philippine movies.

Other recipients of the prestigious award were Eugenia Duran-Apostol (founder of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, 2004, print), Vilma Santos (2005, film), Fidela “Tiya Dely” Magpayo (2006, radio), Cecilia “Cheche” L. Lazaro (2007, television), Pachico A. Seares (2008, community print), Kidlat Tahimik (2009, independent filmmaking), Eloisa “Lola Sela” Canlas (2011, radio), Florence “Rosa Rosal” Danon-Gayda (2012, television), and Jose “Pete” Lacaba (2013, print).

Nora is also fresh from her triumph as Best Actress in Cinemalaya X for the movie Hustisya helmed by Joel Lamangan in the Directors Showcase category.

She was called by the presenter as Our National Artist and was given standing ovation as she walked up the stage and accepted her trophy.

With Cinemalaya X co-winners

Her movie was also the topgrossing film as it made rounds in Ayala Cinemas (Trinoma, Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center) on top of the regular showing at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Hustisya also won the Audience Choice Award and the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Award for “its timely and relevant commentary on the social realities of the country through the female lead character and various notorious personalities plaguing Philippine society.”

Meanwhile, Nora’s first official horror movie, Dementia, directed by TV executive Perci Intalan is hitting theaters on September 24.

Daniel Matsunaga is ‘PBB All In’ Big Winner!

Name and character plus natural goodness spelled the difference for PBB All In Big Winner Daniel Matsunaga.

The Brazilian-Japanese model who made the Philippines his home for the last many years was already an established name on TV and the modelling circuit when he was belatedly added to the reality program, the ratings of which could not seem to take off due to uninteresting roster of housemates.

It was only during the last three weeks of the show, when the excitement over The Voice Kids subsided that interest on the remaining housemates became a staple of conversations across all strata.

In the end, viewers used sense and sensibility in choosing the winner, and it was Maris Racal (Singing Sunshine Ng Davao) and not Jane Oineza (Rising Celebriteen Ng Pasig) that came out stronger for the win.

Although Jane was seen by many of her supporters as a strong-willed person, there were more people who saw her as hypocrite, double-faced (as Manolo Pedrosa said), flirt and all other reasons why she’s the most bashed and most defended housemate in this edition.

Daniel was seen to be cool, masipag, responsible, can get along with anyone, discounting the fact that teen viewers and supporters called him oldie or tanda.

The voting system was tweaked when BBS (Save) minus BBE (Evict) became the basis for eviction and finally, in declaring the Big 4 and the Big Winner.

Vickie Big 4 Pic Dress2 ElegantVickie Rushton

When Loisa Andalio was evicted last Saturday for getting the least net percentage of votes, Jane (27.06%) was leading Daniel (11.91%) by 15.15%. Maris was third with 8.18% and Vickie was fourth with 1.09%.

Daniel’s net vote only changed a little – 11.69% but it was more than enough to make him the Big Winner, as Jane’s net vote percentage dropped drastically to less than 1% – only -.73%. It meant that more people wanted her out of the winning podium than those ranting supporters who’ve been shouting and screaming since Day 1.

Maris, although her percentage votes dropped more than half, it was still positive at 3.1% and good to be second placer.

Vickie was at the tailend with -.78%.

As the Big Winner, Daniel received a check of P1 million; Maris as second placer, P500,000; Jane as third, P300,000; and Vickie as fourth, P200,000.

Daniel also won for himself a condo unit, negosyo package and Asian tour package.

All four expressed surprise at the warm reception for each of them.

When Maris was asked what she can advise to teeners like her, she said to dream big, nothing less and nothing else.

Although not Filipino (but definitely looks like a handsome Filipino in every angle and every aspect), Daniel did not hold his tears when he expressed his gratefulness for the support he received.

Filipino by heart, he’s even a lot better that most Filipinos because he learned the language and immersed himself in the culture of his adopted country and people, whereas a lot of the sosyal and pa-sosyal refuse to speak in Tagalog among themselves as the language daw is good only for drivers, maids, househelps and the lower class.

Vickie was met by her family, including boyfriend Jason Abalos. Jane was met by her mom and little brother. Maris was met by her parents. Daniel was met by his mom and sister Vanessa.

Daniel already appeared in some movies and teleseryes on GMA. He was also linked to Kris Aquino and called by Kris’ son Bimby as Tito Dandan.

On Twitter (@DandanMatsunaga), Daniel thanked his supporters soon after the show, saying:

“Good morning #Team Matsunaga the #BigWinner is here it’s #Daniel Matsunaga..! Thank you sa support..! #PBBTheBigNight…”

‘TVK’ grand champion Lyca Gairanod shows mettle in own ‘MMK’ story: Wow, the little girl can act!

There’s no doubt that nine-year old Lyca Gairanod can sing. She’s The Voice Kids first grand champion lang naman.

Her being small but terrible in stature made Lea Salonga remark during the Battles that all she could think of was Nora Aunor, thus Lyca being tagged as Little Superstar from then on.

Lyca Gairanod: Singing sensation at 9

While still fresh from her winning, with millions of Filipinos around the globe ecstatic about her feat, ABS-CBN took advantage of featuring her life story on Charo Santos’ Maalaala Mo Kaya, with Lyca playing herself in the long-running anthology.

She underwent acting workshop before the cameras rolled and proved that she can deliver the goods.

Lyca-MMK with Malu De Guzman

In a dramatic scene with Malou De Guzman as Lyca’s mother

Acting out her own life story was not hard for Lyca, but it became easier because of her innate talent in acting, just like in singing.

And wow, she can act!

“First time ko lang po umiyak nang dalawang beses. Sabi po ng direktor umiyak ako, umiyak po ako. Hindi naman po mahirap masyado,” she said of her dramatic scenes.

Another dramatic scene with Ronnie Lazaro as Lyca’s father

If Nora became a national singing champion via Tawag Ng Tanghalan at 14, and Vilma Santos became an acting sensation via Trudis Liit at 9, the scavenging daughter of a fisherman from Tanza, Cavite has become both at her tender age.

It’s like saying that Lyca is even better than the Superstar because Nora did not act (although debuted in All Over The World in the same year she won Tawag Ng Tanghalan) in movies and television until later; also better off than Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos because the actress-politician has not been gifted with a good singing voice even if she won Best Child Actress in her debut film.

And just fresh off the press: Lyca joins Hawak Kamay, a teleserye (which replaced Dyesebel) topbilled by Piolo Pascual. An MCA Universal album for The Voice Kids Top 6 (Lyca, Darren, Juan Karlos, Darlene Vibares, Tonton Cabiles and Edray Teodoro) is under way. This is on top of Lyca’s solo album as part of her winning the grand prize in the ABS-CBN singing reality show.

Lyca’s life story on Maalaala Mo Kaya (titled Red Envelope for the color of the envelope that contained the announcement that she passed the audition) posted a rating of 38.4%, even higher than that of The Voice Kids finale with 37.2%. MMK had a national average rating of 26.4% for the month of July.

When the Top 4 guested on Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV), it was Lyca who asked Vice to include them in the movie the comedian is doing for the Metro Manila Film Festival. Vice said the Top 4 will be included, so true enough, Lyca debuts in a movie soon, a filmfest entry no less with the Unkabogable Box-Office draw of them all in Praybeyt Benjamin 2.

The Little Superstar also doused the apprehension and concern of some of her supporters that she might change too soon and become swell-headed.

Joshua’s eviction elates ‘PBB All In’ nation, Big 4 known soon

No eviction has brought so much elation since Cess Visitacion than Joshua Garcia bidding goodbye to his Pinoy Big Brother All In Big 4 dreams last Sunday.

Save (BBS) minus Evict (BBE) votes gave Joshua a net -34.57% rating, compared to Jane Oineza’s 24.75% and Daniel Matsunaga’s 9.82%.

#PBB12thEvictionNight was the worldwide Twitter top trending topic and Bye Joshua was #6. Two rungs below at #8 was We Love You Joshua.

Results in: Joshua is evicted!

The BBE votes said so: One regular viewer tweeted, “Why I feel so happy? Coz Joshua is the latest evictee for tonight!”

Another one said, “I’m the happiest person right now. Bye Joshua.”

Still another, “Bye Joshua! You made my night! Yehey, tears of joy ito.”

Others said the same thing: “Bye Joshua! You deserved that!”

“Oh, my gosh! Finally! Bye Joshua!”

“Thank you, Lord. Goodbye Joshua!”

“Finally, you’re out! It’s worth voting! Bye Joshua!”

The post that set Twitter afire

Netizens, particularly fans and supporters of Joshua immediately reacted to the post, as the allusion clearly pointed to the boy from Batangas.

At that time, the only two other guys left were Daniel and Manolo Pedrosa, who was evicted last week.

Manolo Pedrosa

Joshua was seen as the laziest housemate, voted Manolo for eviction being his strongest rival, and even said it’s not fair to vote off the lazy ones (Loisa is the lazy girl, according to Daniel) as it would take away their chance to change.

Kim stood her ground, saying that it was her opinion (and we live in a democratic country), so reactions to her tweet did not matter. She will be inside the house on August 19 (Saturday).

Prequel or sequel?: 2nd sex video too damning for Paolo Bediones

Around noontime last Friday, social media was abuzz that a second video of Paolo Bediones’ bedroom calisthenics with the same girl has been uploaded, circulating among netizens and making the TV5 host/anchor the #1 trending topic again, particularly on Yahoo.

Paolo Bediones with his Gawad Tanglaw award

The new video (being argued whether it’s a prequel or sequel to the 6-minute 43-second recording) is longer at 16 minutes 13 seconds, but stops at 13:35 probably because of some technical problems, but the ohhs and ahhs are still audible. At 12:10 Paolo is heard to mouth the most popular Tagalog swear phrase.

Paolo filed a formal complaint with the Philippine National Police (PNP), confirming the authenticity of the sex video but said he was blackmailed and wanted to stop the circulation of the scandalous recording and the perpetrator apprehended or punished.

Paolo Bediones The Sexy Side

Netizens were aghast at his move, getting very few sympathizers, most condemning his fetish for recording his own private act.

“Ano ang ipinaglalaban mo, Paolo? Gagagawa-gawa ka ng krimen tapos gusto mong pagtakpan ang hindi na puwedeng pagtakpan? (What are you fighting for, Paolo? You did a crime and you want to cover-up something that can no longer be covered-up?)” one Facebook user reacted.

Paolo Bediones CMMA

Another was a little bit more courteous. “Sir, wala naman sigurong magsi-circulate kung walang ni-record (Sir, nothing would circulate if nothing was recorded in the first place).”

“Wala nang credibility mag-news (No more credibility to deliver news).”

In the second video, it’s the girl who’s being lashed/praised, whatever youwannacallit.

Is it her or is she the one?

China Roces a.k.a. Geraldine Catalan denied she’s the girl. Some are saying it’s Angel Gutierrez.

“Kakaloka si ate, ang galing, todo smile pa sa camera.”

“Kakainggit naman, sana ako na lang, bakla ako, e!”

“Ang sarap ng girl, ang ganda na, performer pa!”

“Sana ako na lang nasa lugar ni Paolo, for sure lalong mag-i-enjoy yung girl.”

Another (titled Part 2 Ni Idol from torjackan) had 2,081 shares and 399 likes and still active as of this writing. Multiply that by just 1,000 users and you can deduce why Paolo Bediones is lording over social media and search engines anew.

On Twitter, users had been asking for the MediaFire link for Videoness.mp4, Paolo Bediones Scandal Part 2 or Subo Lahat Eh.

The worse for Paolo is that it’s said there’s still Part 3 or even Part 4 coming up soon.
