Daniel Matsunaga is ‘PBB All In’ Big Winner!

Name and character plus natural goodness spelled the difference for PBB All In Big Winner Daniel Matsunaga.

The Brazilian-Japanese model who made the Philippines his home for the last many years was already an established name on TV and the modelling circuit when he was belatedly added to the reality program, the ratings of which could not seem to take off due to uninteresting roster of housemates.

It was only during the last three weeks of the show, when the excitement over The Voice Kids subsided that interest on the remaining housemates became a staple of conversations across all strata.

In the end, viewers used sense and sensibility in choosing the winner, and it was Maris Racal (Singing Sunshine Ng Davao) and not Jane Oineza (Rising Celebriteen Ng Pasig) that came out stronger for the win.

Although Jane was seen by many of her supporters as a strong-willed person, there were more people who saw her as hypocrite, double-faced (as Manolo Pedrosa said), flirt and all other reasons why she’s the most bashed and most defended housemate in this edition.

Daniel was seen to be cool, masipag, responsible, can get along with anyone, discounting the fact that teen viewers and supporters called him oldie or tanda.

The voting system was tweaked when BBS (Save) minus BBE (Evict) became the basis for eviction and finally, in declaring the Big 4 and the Big Winner.

When Loisa Andalio was evicted last Saturday for getting the least net percentage of votes, Jane (27.06%) was leading Daniel (11.91%) by 15.15%. Maris was third with 8.18% and Vickie was fourth with 1.09%.

Daniel’s net vote only changed a little – 11.69% but it was more than enough to make him the Big Winner, as Jane’s net vote percentage dropped drastically to less than 1% – only -.73%. It meant that more people wanted her out of the winning podium than those ranting supporters who’ve been shouting and screaming since Day 1.

Maris, although her percentage votes dropped more than half, it was still positive at 3.1% and good to be second placer.

Vickie was at the tailend with -.78%.

As the Big Winner, Daniel received a check of P1 million; Maris as second placer, P500,000; Jane as third, P300,000; and Vickie as fourth, P200,000.

Daniel also won for himself a condo unit, negosyo package and Asian tour package.

All four expressed surprise at the warm reception for each of them.

When Maris was asked what she can advise to teeners like her, she said to dream big, nothing less and nothing else.

Although not Filipino (but definitely looks like a handsome Filipino in every angle and every aspect), Daniel did not hold his tears when he expressed his gratefulness for the support he received.

Filipino by heart, he’s even a lot better that most Filipinos because he learned the language and immersed himself in the culture of his adopted country and people, whereas a lot of the sosyal and pa-sosyal refuse to speak in Tagalog among themselves as the language daw is good only for drivers, maids, househelps and the lower class.

Vickie was met by her family, including boyfriend Jason Abalos. Jane was met by her mom and little brother. Maris was met by her parents. Daniel was met by his mom and sister Vanessa.

Daniel already appeared in some movies and teleseryes on GMA. He was also linked to Kris Aquino and called by Kris’ son Bimby as Tito Dandan.

On Twitter (@DandanMatsunaga), Daniel thanked his supporters soon after the show, saying:

“Good morning #Team Matsunaga the #BigWinner is here it’s #Daniel Matsunaga..! Thank you sa support..! #PBBTheBigNight…”

On Wednesday, previous winners of the reality franchise visited the remaining five housemates then gave their choices for the Big Winner of this edition in the confession room.

The guys – James Reid (Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010) and Slater Young (Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited 2012 and also host of PBB All In Ubertime Online) – chose Daniel Matsunaga, the only male survivor, as the Big Winner.

Myrtle Sarrosa (PBB Teen Edition 4 2010) named Maris Racal as her choice.

Kim Chiu to grace final eviction

Last August 5, Kim Chiu, herself PBB Teen Edition big winner in 2006, tweeted:

“watched pbb! Haha #affected may isang guy super not deserving to be part ng big4..as in!!! tamad feeler and makatwiran sa sarili is (thumb down).”

The post that set Twitter afire

Netizens, particularly fans and supporters of Joshua immediately reacted to the post, as the allusion clearly pointed to the boy from Batangas.

At that time, the only two other guys left were Daniel and Manolo Pedrosa, who was evicted last week.

Manolo Pedrosa

Joshua was seen as the laziest housemate, voted Manolo for eviction being his strongest rival, and even said it’s not fair to vote off the lazy ones (Loisa is the lazy girl, according to Daniel) as it would take away their chance to change.

Kim stood her ground, saying that it was her opinion (and we live in a democratic country), so reactions to her tweet did not matter. She will be inside the house on August 19 (Saturday).

Weak support from rich La Salle community makes cry baby/ladies’ man Axel Torres ‘PBB All In’ third evictee

When the nominees for second eviction were revealed, supporters of Pinoy Big Brother All In were choosing who between Michele Gumabao and Aina Solano should they support.

The DLSU lady spiker earned the ire of some viewers for being too bossy, while the dancer from Boracay was said to be next to Cess Visitacion’s plasticity.

Axel Torres

They concluded Aina is actually kind, probably she did not mean to do what she was doing while Michele is really bossy, but her demeanor is understandable as she brought her school team to numerous wins.

Michele Gumabao

For the two guys who broke house rules that got them automatically nominated for eviction, Manolo Pedrosa’s camp used social media to rally support so he will remain in the competition but there was nary a whimper asking support for Axel Torres.

Michele, Manolo and Axel come from the rich La Salle community, leaving Switzerland-educated Aina as the odd man out.

Manolo Pedrosa

Let’s face it, the burgis La Sallians may have the power using their phones to vote not minding how much a text would cost. But do they watch the show to know what really goes inside the house? It’s the gullible masa who watch and decide who should go and who should stay.

Come announcement night, no one was surprised that it was Axel who got evicted for getting the lowest vote percentage at 19.42%. Aina got 23.03%, Michele got 23.68% and Manolo got 33.87%.

The Facebook post about Axel’s eviction was replete with comments, like:

“Parang three-year-old na batang umiiyak pag di nakakain ng junk food!”

“Makakain na niya lahat ng gusto niyang Mang Juan ngayong nasa labas na siya!”

“Parang bata kasi kung maka-react!”

“Wala nang hipon sa ‘PBB All In’!”

“May career na siya, endorser ng Mang Juan!’

Reportedly, most of the housemates find him a ladies’ man, but using their gaydars bekis also say that he’s one of those suspected to be their kind.

Axel was met by his mother and throngs of people, mostly girls and gays, excited to see him outside of Big Brother’s house.

The Green Archers Team B basketeer is expected to make the rounds on ABS-CBN showbiz-oriented shows as Chevin and Cess did for exposure.

On Abunda & Aquino Tonight, Boy Abunda asked Chevin and Cess who they think was ka-evict-evict.

Will their personal choices (Aina for Chevin) and (Ranty for Cess) be the next evictees?

‘PBB All In’ first evictees: Least-liked-by-housemates Chevin and most-hated-by-viewers Cess say hello again to the outside world

Hours before the announcement of Pinoy Big Brother All In first eviction last Saturday, social media was already abuzz that the resident chismosa/intrigera Cess Visitacion will be for forced eviction along with the top BNN housemate, which turned out to be Chevin Cecilio, Simpatikong Salesman Ng CamSur.

Chevin Cecilio in this pre-‘PBB All In’ photo

Visitacion’s demeanor inside the House appalled so many viewers that she’s likened to a plastic bag (not Tupperware as that’s too classy).

Seen by some that that’s her role in the program, still the Biba Raketera Ng Valenzuela has been turning loyal followers of the ABS-CBN reality show fuming mad with her attitude towards Jane (Oneiza) and other housemates.

Cess Visitacion: Speechless over her forced eviction

Considered as the most ordinary person to get into the show to satisfy the title All In, it turned out, for viewers, that her looks is just plastic cover for her character.

Big Brother showed Cess a video of her violations – she asked about the outside world, did not wear her lapel mic, moved furniture, whispered to fellow housemates and wrote secret messages to them, all of which breached the rule book. It’s because of those violations that Cess was for forced eviction, pushed and expected by hundreds of thousands of viewers.

That ended Cess’ short shot to fame. Now she can enjoy the outside world once more and maybe look into posts on Facebook how she fared in the eyes of viewers.

Most popular ‘PBB All In’ meme

One comment said, “Maybe she’s got crush on Axel. It shows on the way she acts and flirts with him. She’s just insecure because Jane is very much prettier than her. On her reaction, it is really obvious that she’s plastic. She’s talking about her issue with Jane behind her back. She’s seeking attention and sympathy from her housemates. Hope she’ll be evicted soon.”

Another one: “Si Cess na nga ang pinakapangit sa lahat ng housemates, tapos siya pa ang problema sa ugali (Cess is the ugliest among all housemates yet she’s the one that’s got an attitude problem).”

This one could sum up the feelings of many others: “I hate you, Cess! Akala ko nung unang pagpasok mo sa Big Brother House mabait at palabiro ka lang, yun pala hindi, lumabas ang totoong ugali mo! Sana ma-nominate ka na sa susunod na BBN (I thought when you first got into Big Brother House you’re nice and just funny, it turned out no, your true character manifested itself. I hope you will be nominated in the next BBN).”

For breaking house rules Axel Torres, Manolo Pedrosa and Alex Gonzaga were forced-nominated for eviction, which the three and other housemates said they learned a lot from what happened to Cess.

As for Chevin, getting the lowest percentage of votes from home viewers at 30.24% spelled his eviction.

Maris Racal and Loisa Andalio garnered 30.38% and 39.37% respectively, and were safe but could be in danger for next eviction.

Last week, the other housemates expressed their dismay over Chevin’s attitude when given tasks and chores.

It’s goodbye Big Brother House, hello again outside world for Chevin Klein Cecilio

Joshua Garcia said Chevin seemed temperamental (magalitin) whenever they’re given tasks and chores which made him decide to give his two points to the housemate-with-an-attitude in this batch of Pinoy Big Brother.

Fooled 44,000+ auditionees still watch ‘PBB All-In’: Alex just celebrity house guest, Top 5 revealed in first week poll

The gods must be listening. Or reading.

After getting so much flak on social media, producers of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother All-In announced through Kuya (Big Brother) that TV host Alex Gonzaga is, after all, just a celebrity house guest and not an official housemate.

Alex was called into the confession room Saturday by Kuya and was told of her real purpose inside, which is to complete a series of tasks, the first being to hold her own talk show and get to know the housemates better.

“You’re not an official housemate,” Big Brother told her and warned the TV host not to reveal her status to the contestants.

Comments (from legitimate complaints of those who endured long hours of queues to humorous to absurd to downright cussing and swearing) continue to flood social media how the 44,000+ that trooped to audition venues had been fooled into participating in this touted as biggest hoax pulled by the Lopez-owned network on the patronizing Filipino audience.

(See related story Many are fooled but few are chosen: Shouldn’t ‘Pinoy Big Brother All-In’ be just Star Magic Batch 20 instead? https://arloc888.wordpress.com/2014/05/03/many-are-fooled-but-few-are-chosen-shouldnt-pinoy-big-brother-all-in-be-just-star-magic-batch-20-instead/)

Cebuanos particularly still can’t accept the fact that not one of them made it to the final roster of 18 in the All-In edition.

Kim Chiu, first PBB Teen Edition winner in 2006 and now a big TV and movie star, is Chinese-Cebuana who auditioned in Cebu. Slater Young, winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited (2012) also hails from Cebu.

There are those who are more forgiving. One auditionee from Pampanga said, “it’s their show and they can do anything they want.”

Some bekis (slang term for gay) say that they smell two ka-federacion in the show, as seen how said housemates being so malamya or softie in their actions and mannerisms. Who could those be?

From the selection process to what’s captured on camera, people are saying how so scripted it is. However, despite the flak, televiewers still watch it, including the fooled auditionees.

Results of the first week showed that Alex Gonzaga got the highest vote at 19.4%, followed by La Salle volleybelle Michelle Gumabao 14.93%, La Salle high schooler Manolo Pedrosa 11.94%, Cess Visitacion and Joshua Garcia tied at 7.46%.

Jane Oineza and Jacob Benedicto tied at 5.97%, then followed by Maris Racal and Bobby “Fifth” Solomon tied at 4.48%. Axel Torres, Chevin Cecilio, Jayme Jalandoni and Vickie Rushton all tied at 2.29%.

Nichole Baranda, Randy Portento and Loisa Andalio tied at 1.49%. At the bottom are Bobby “Fourth” Solomom IV at 1% and Aina Solano, getting 0%.

Needless to say, with Alex out as official housemate, the top vote-getters are Michelle Gumabao, Manolo Pedrosa, Cess Visitacion, Joshua Garcia, Jane Oineza and Jacob Benedicto.

Pinoy Big Brother All In Uber broadcasts at 3:15 p.m. and PBB All In at 9:50 p.m. weekdays, 9:15 p.m. Saturdays and 8:45 p.m. Sundays.

Many are fooled but few are chosen: Shouldn’t ‘Pinoy Big Brother All-In’ be just Star Magic Batch 20 instead?

Except for suckers of melodramas and pretty faces, the selection of the 18 housemates in Pinoy Big Brother All-In is seen by most, especially netizens, as the biggest hoax ABS-CBN has done to the Filipino audience.

More than 44,000 lined up in venues designated by the network only for those who had hoped that they may be chosen felt aghast when the line-up was announced in the Lopez-owned network’s programs.

People could not help but believe that the 18 had been pre-chosen and the auditions were conducted just to get precious footage to make it appear as it’s still a real reality show.

Look at the line-up: they are all moviestar material, looking more like Star Magic Batch 20. Many are wondering why there’s a need for these pretty faces to go through this hoopla.

(ABS-CBN’s launching pad of stars started in 1995. It was called Star Circle then. The first batch included Rico Yan, Victor Neri, Regine Tolentino and Maricel Morales among others. Succeeding batches included Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo, Jericho Rosales, Kristine Hermosa, Carol Banawa, Nikki Valdez, Marvin Agustin, John Lloyd Cruz, Jodi Sta. Maria, Shaina Magdayao, Sam Milby, Dennis Trillo, Enrique Gil, Megan Young, et al.)

Could it be possible for Nichole to be chosen among the thousands of faces if it was not known she’s Phoemela Baranda’s daughter?

True that Vickie Rushton is pretty, being a beauty queen, but could she have been chosen if not for the fact that he’s Kapamilya actor Jason Abalos’ girlfriend?

If Manolo Pedrosa is not handled by the same agent that took Joross Gamboa and Gerald Anderson to ABS-CBN, did he have the chance to go through the next phase even if he’s too cute for comfort?

It’s understood that Alex Gonzaga should also go through the same experience to know what goes on inside The House (just like the other hosts who all have been housemates before) to be able to relate as host, but she could have just been considered as celebrity guest housemate like her sister Toni in the second edition of PBB in 2007.

How about Axel Torres (rumored to be Vice Ganda‘s boyfriend)?

With the flak that the program is getting on social media (the real Kuya, as he’s the person behind the production) Lauren Dyogi defended the choices, saying thru Twitter that viewers these days tend to appreciate “natural” people than otherwise, and that the 18 are telegenic, which most mattered, being the main reason why people follow the show.

(Click the link to get to the full article http://push.abs-cbn.com/features/10891/lauren-dyogi-responds-to-pbb-all-in-backlash/)

In modern Filipino culture as all can see, those following shows like this are the same people who pay to watch celebrities in the concerts or appearances but never give a budge when there’s a call for spiritual renewal or moral regeneration.

It’s in the very fiber of Filipino society to give more importance to sensational media creations than to propriety of action. Yet people wonder how much corruption there is in government, media circles and even in the nooks and attics of homes and offices.

In the case of PBB All-In, it’s not as what Jesus said, “Many are called but few are chosen” : it’s Many are fooled but few are (pre-) chosen.

Only fools are fooled, as only fools fool the fools like them.

The wise watch or do more important things as the fools swagger in their foolishness.
